    1st    Jacques Anquetil Jacques AnquetilFormer French  cyclist Jacques Anquetil became the first cyclist to win the Tour de France five times, which he won four times in a row between 1961 and 1964 after winning the first  in 1957. The cycling world was known for his ability to race alone against the clock in individual time trials. This achievement has also earned him the nickname "Monsieur Chrono". Anquetil won the bronze medal when he competed with the French cycling team in the 100 km time trial at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He won the Grand Prix des Nations title nine times in a row undefeated. Anquetil was named "Champion of Champions of France" by L'Équipe in 1963 and made Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Mérite in 1965.
